The first graders are working with many beginning mathematical concepts.
Understanding math (how it works and is used) is the main focus of our
math instruction. This month we are working to learn to tell time to the hour. We'll solve addition and subtraction problems using number lines and grids. We'll work with pennies to add and subtract and begin to understand money. And of course, we'll continue to practice counting up and back by 1s, 2s, and 5s and to tally numbers.
