Students have been working very hard during the months of September and October at Franklin. I am very impressed with the evidence of our students coming to school each day prepared to learn. Students have also been demonstrating positive behaviors around our school theme this year: Respect, Responsibility and Safety.
All students have been assessed in reading, using a variety of measures. Students in grades K-3 were assessed using the PALS and Mondo benchmark assessments. Students in grades 4-5 were assessed with the Mondo benchmark assessment, and students in grade 6 were assessed with the QRI reading assessments. We are fortunate to be among a group of St. Paul Schools that administer the NWEA assessments in reading and math for our students in grades 3-6. What does all of this information tell us? It informs the classroom teachers where each student is currently working in reading and math. We are then able to guide instruction to meet each child's needs.
Conferences will be approaching quickly. Your child's teacher has the assessment information described above to share with you. Confirmation conference slips went home during the week of October 27th. We look forward to seeing you all at conferences in November. Our two evening sessions are November 10th and 12th, from 4 - 7:30 p.m., and our day session is Friday, November 13th, from 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Our goal is 100% participation!
Sincerely,
Barbara J. Evangelist Principal Franklin Music Magnet 651-293-8250
