At Franklin Music Magnet our philosophy of balanced education is based on caring, diversity and community involvement.
Franklin Music Magnet Elementary School offers all students the opportunity to explore and experience music to its fullest in addition to providing a strong academic environment. A majority of the students at Franklin take lessons during the school day on instruments provided. Primary violin instruction in interactive small groups beginning in Kindergarten through 3rd grade is a core foundation of our instrumental music program. For students in grades 4-6, insruction is offered on most orchestral and band instruments including keyboard and guitar. All Kindergarten - 6th grade students receive regular instruction in vocal and general music. In addition to lessons, all students perform regularly in large ensembles such as band, orchestra, drum team, choir and keyboard recitals. Opportunities for public performance are offered in regularly scheduleed concerts and tours throughout the community.

Franklin values a rigorous academic environment for its students. Our staff is dedicated to literacy across the curriculum and participated in the initial trainings in the District's Project for Academic Excellence. Franklin's Book Buddy Partnership program includes 475 mentors, most of who come weekly to read with individual students. Franklin has a broad spectrum of services addressing the needs of all of our diverse student population. These services include an exemplary gifted and talented program, a science specialist teacher for grades K-6, a strong physical education program, humanities, a full-time librarian, full-time counselor, a nurse and social worker. Mathematics is highly valued and promoted in daily blocks with smaller class sizes for more individual attention. Our second language learners enhance the student population and are taught in the classroom with a team of highly qualified teachers and a Kindergarten Language Development Model, which highly enhances vocaubulary acquisition especially with second language learners.
