Franklin Food Drive Ms. Barnes and her sixth grade students will be having a food drive, and we would like all of you to participate! Students in every classroom will be collecting canned goods or boxed food, beginning November 17th and ending on December 1st. All food will be delivered to a local food shelf.
Health Notes From the School Nurse Fall 2009 Update regarding the H1N1 flu for the 2009-2010 school year. Families, students and school staff can keep from getting sick with flu in three ways: 1. Practice good handwashing, wash hands frequently with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. 2. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow. 3. Stay home if sick with flu-like symptoms, (fever over 100 degrees, body aches, headaches) until at least 24 hours after the fever has gone away without the use of any fever-reducing medication that contains ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
School nurses and administrators will be collecting data about flu-like illness and will follow the guidelines recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and local public health agencies about steps to take in the school setting during the 2009-2010 school year.
